Saku is definitely the one to look to, because of the salary. If he is willing to take a cut, I see him finishing his career here. I think there is a real possibility that he plays in Finland with Teemu, if Teemu plays one year there.

I agree with your assessments. As much as I love Koivu and want him back, if the Ducks swing a deal for a second line center Saku is a fourth line center behind Getzlaf, Player X, and Bonino. Plus he's battling for playing time with Perrault. Haven't even mentioned Rackel.
I hope they can re-sign Winnik, too. The guy can't finish to save his life but he does all the little things that don't show up in the Corsi percentages.

BTW, are you a die hard Corsi guy?

I agree with most of what you said except the part about Koivu makind 3M is second line money. With the rise of the cap, 3M is very cheap for a second line player. It is closer to a decent third line player with the exception of entry level contracts.

Nice write up!

If Koivu wants to finally hoist the cup and with teams not exactly lining up to sign him, he could take a cut and stay with Anaheim. Now limited to a 30-40pts production and probably more of a defensive role, it is still good to see his compete level hasn't dropped one bit and I am glad the Ducks are open to offering him one last shot at the big prize.

The 2013-14 season ended on Friday and the unofficial start to the 2014-15 season started on Saturday. For all intensive purposes it could have been the Ducks hoisting the cup on SoCal ice; but it wasn't. The big question for the team is: How do the Ducks go from best in the west to Stanley Cup Champions?

1. there aren't many ducks fans that love hiller, infact i cannot find many that want him back at all

2. NO we don't want saku koivu back, he was the worst player on the team he will NOT be back next year. BOOK IT!

3. Steckel is NOT 5th on the ducks center depth chart, he is behind RAKELL and KARLSSON, you are off to a bad start ed! I like Stecks but he is well down the organizational chart
